It took me a long time to realize that I am my worst enemy.

We have power and strength from Christ to accomplish what we need to accomplish. I have great ideas on how I’d like to behave each day, but I usually don’t behave the way I plan to. I need all the strength and help from God I can get when it comes to behaving right. I need God’s help in everything I do.

Ephesians 6:10 (AMPC) 10 In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides].

Sometimes we don’t rely on God as much as we can for our everyday living. We go to God for big things but not the little things that God tells us to do. It took me a long time to realize that I am my worst enemy. Those little negative behaviors I display have a pretty big impact on the amount of joy I have in my life. We are really good at asking God to change the behaviors of others, but it takes some maturity and soul searching when we go to God and ask him to change our behavior.

Ephesians 6:11-12 (AMPC) 11 Put on God’s whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil. 12 For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.

We have to be willing to deal with opposition when we begin our battle to behave better. There are wicked spirits everywhere around us that war against us to keep us from doing the right thing. But guess what, we have more power than those evil spirits. We may not feel like behaving better all the time which is why we have to get dressed for battle each day by putting on the whole armor of God.

Ephesians 6:13 (AMPC) 13 Therefore put on God’s complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place].

We do what God asks us to do, and God will do what we cannot do as we stand firmly in our place standing our ground to do what is right. A lot of times we pray for something and we do not do our part, we expect miracles. We do have a part with our battles and our part is to put on that armor so we are dressed for the spiritual battles we face each day.

Ephesians 6:14-18 (AMPC) 14 Stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the belt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplate of integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God, 15 And having shod your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with the [a]firm-footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness [b]produced by the good news] of the Gospel of peace. 16 Lift up over all the [covering] shield of [c]saving faith, upon which you can quench all the flaming missiles of the wicked [one]. 17 And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit [d]wields, which is the Word of God. 18 Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people).

If you would like to accept Jesus as your savior, and you are not quite sure how, it is as simple as saying a prayer to God to let Him know you are ready to accept Him into your life. Say this prayer if you would like to invite Jesus to live in your heart:

Father God, I love you and believe in you. I need you Lord and I am sorry for my sins and the way that I live. Lord, I want you in my life. I receive Jesus as my savior and Lord. I believe that Jesus died for me and rose from the dead. Lord take me as I am and make me the way you want me to be. God, thank you for saving me and being with me on my journey. I am looking forward to my journey with you Lord. I know you will equip me for my journey and I am glad I have you by my side as I walk this walk of Life. Thank you Lord, I love you. Amen

My true belief is that the best way to preach is by our actions and not our words. However, we need some daily inspiration to keep us on our path. We as Christians have a responsibility not to judge others by our words but to show the love of Christ by loving them where they are at on their personal journey in life...and if they never turn their life over to Christ, continue to love them for who they are - after all God does.
