Don’t be afraid to let something old go to take hold of something new

Genesis 12:1-3 (AMPC) 12 Now [in Haran] the Lord said to Abram, Go for yourself [for your own advantage] away from your country, from your relatives and your father’s house, to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you [with abundant increase of favors] and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will be a blessing [dispensing good to others]. And I will bless those who bless you [who confer prosperity or happiness upon you] and [a]curse him who curses or uses insolent language toward you; in you will all the families and kindred of the earth be blessed [and by you they will bless themselves].

God wants to bless us, but in order to be blessed we must follow God in what he is calling us to do. When God calls us to do something we might have to let go of some things that are holding us back from our God ordained destination. Following God can be scary because we have to take a step of faith to move forward – when we move forward we don’t know what is in store for us.

It is not just moving forward that is tough but sometimes it is more of letting go of some of the things we are used to. We cannot move forward if we are not willing to let go of a few things that might be holding us back. That requires a significant amount of faith. Sometimes we cannot do what we are supposed to do because we cannot get away from current influences.

Sometimes we get stuck where we are because we do not want to be lonely or judged by others. When God is leading us to do great things, we may need to take the risk to disappoint others. God will fill our loneliness for us. Gaining God approval over people approval will be so much more rewarding if you do not give up in the middle of your journey.

Joshua 1:2-3 (AMPC)Moses My servant is dead. So now arise [take his place], go over this Jordan, you and all this people, into the land which I am giving to them, the Israelites. Every place upon which the sole of your foot shall tread, that have I given to you, as I promised Moses.

God has a plan for us and has our plan laid out of what he wants to reward us with. Our job is to be sensitive to what God is saying and walk the path that has been paved for us. We tend to overthink ever single situation by asking ‘what if’ all of the time. Thinking something trough is smart but we can’t use a pros and cons list keep us from what we know God is leading us to do. Sometimes what makes sense to God does not make sense to people.

God wants to show His glory through us. If we never follow the prompting of God and want the approval of people more than the approval of God we will never experience the riches and glory that is destined to be ours. Fear of the unknown will always present itself to us during our journey but know that God is with us. Fear is a thief and is something the devil uses to keep us from progressing forward. You have what it takes to be brave, strong, and courageous to move forward. It is time to take hold of what is yours!

Joshua 1:9 (AMPC) Have not I commanded you? Be strong, vigorous, and very courageous. Be not afraid, neither be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

If you would like to accept Jesus as your savior, and you are not quite sure how, it is as simple as saying a prayer to God to let Him know you are ready to accept Him into your life. Say this prayer if you would like to invite Jesus to live in your heart:

Father God, I love you and believe in you. I need you Lord and I am sorry for my sins and the way that I live. Lord, I want you in my life. I receive Jesus as my savior and Lord. I believe that Jesus died for me and rose from the dead. Lord take me as I am and make me the way you want me to be. God, thank you for saving me and being with me on my journey. I am looking forward to my journey with you Lord. I know you will equip me for my journey and I am glad I have you by my side as I walk this walk of Life. Thank you Lord, I love you. Amen

My true belief is that the best way to preach is by our actions and not our words. However, we need some daily inspiration to keep us on our path. We as Christians have a responsibility not to judge others by our words but to show the love of Christ by loving them where they are at on their personal journey in life...and if they never turn their life over to Christ, continue to love them for who they are - after all God does.
