Be wise as serpents and innocent as doves

Many times when we are going through certain things in life we are tempted to compromise our integrity. God tests us to see how we handle situations and if we choose to compromise or do the right thing in tough situations.   Every time we compromise we stunt our spiritual growth.

Matthew 10:16 (AMP) 16 “Listen carefully: I am sending you out like sheep among wolves; so be wise as serpents, and innocent as doves [have no self-serving agenda].

Making the right choice means we have to do things that people around us may think is dumb or stupid. People may even get angry when you choose to do the right thing and take a stand for integrity.   This includes Christian friends that may not understand how you are being led by God. It takes courage to do the right thing be different. I would rather sacrifice my relationship with people than sacrifice my relationship with God.

Proverbs 22:3-5 (AMP) A prudent and far-sighted person sees the evil [of sin] and hides himself [from it], But the naive continue on and are punished [by suffering the consequences of sin]. The reward of humility [that is, having a realistic view of one’s importance] and the [reverent, worshipful] fear of the Lord Is riches, honor, and life. Thorns and snares are in the way of the obstinate [for their lack of honor and their wrong-doing traps them]; He who guards himself [with godly wisdom] will be far from them and avoid the consequences they suffer.

Any time we step up and choose to do the right thing we will be confronted with fear. Fear of what people might think of us or fear of what our situation might turn out if we choose to do the right thing. Our purpose is not to live life pleasing our flesh and pleasing other people by sacrificing just a little bit to make them happy even though we know it is the wrong thing to do.

We never know what we are giving up along the lines of spiritual blessings when we compromise.

Matthew 5:16 (AMP) 16 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognize and honor and] glorify your Father who is in heaven.

If you would like to accept Jesus as your savior, and you are not quite sure how, it is as simple as saying a prayer to God letting Him know you are ready to accept Him into your life. Say this prayer if you would like to invite Jesus to live in your heart:

Father God, I love you and believe in you. I need you Lord and I am sorry for my sins and the way that I live. Lord, I want you in my life. I receive Jesus as my savior and Lord. I believe that Jesus died for me and rose from the dead. Lord take me as I am and make me the way you want me to be. God, thank you for saving me and being with me on my journey. I am looking forward to my journey with you Lord. I know you will equip me for my journey and I am glad I have you by my side as I walk this walk of Life. Thank you Lord, I love you. Amen

My true belief is that the best way to preach is by our actions and not our words. However, we need some daily inspiration to keep us on our path. We as Christians have a responsibility not to judge others by our words but to show the love of Christ by loving them where they are at on their personal journey in life...and if they never turn their life over to Christ, continue to love them for who they are - after all God does.
