My relationship with God is my responsibility

Proverbs 4:20-22 (AMPC) 20 My son, attend to my words; consent and submit to my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from your sight; keep them in the center of your heart. 22 For they are life to those who find them, healing and health to all their flesh.

Our quiet time with God is spiritual warfare. Having peace in any circumstance is spiritual warfare. If we do not take the time to spend with God then bottom line is, God is not that important to us. (Ouch). I hate to be so blatantly honest, but it is true. I’m not sure why we don’t choose to spend time with daily – we each have our own reasons. It may be because we cannot see immediate results when we spend time with God.

God is an ever-present reality. When we develop the habit of spending time with Jesus and we stop, then we will notice that something is missing from our day. When you spend time with God, it shows in our demeanor. When you are around someone who is peaceful, you take notice to that. God gives us the peace we need for everyday life situations and circumstances. I discipline myself to spend time with God each day because I know I need all the help I can get to show kindness to people. Spending time each morning with God helps prepare me for the day.

Joshua 1:8 (AMPC) This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good [a]success.

Every day I do not display perfect behavior, but my mind-set is renewed each time I stop myself and meditate on God’s word. The more time I spend studying God’s Word, the more I learn about myself and what behaviors I would like to present each day. I am not going to behave perfectly one day in my life, but I do strive to make right decisions. I strive to do right because I love God and I am thankful for everything that He has done in my life.

We can know the Word of God and speak the Word of God over our lives and over the lives of others. If we never study the word, we will never know the word. Going to church every Sunday is not the same as getting to know God personally and intimately. It is never too late to go to God and we can never go to God too often. It is our responsibility to know the Word of God.

Psalm 119:97-99 (AMPC) 97 Oh, how love I Your law! It is my meditation all the day. 98 You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies, for [Your words] are ever before me. 99 I have better understanding and deeper insight than all my teachers, because Your testimonies are my meditation.

If you would like to accept Jesus as your savior, and you are not quite sure how, it is as simple as saying a prayer to God letting Him know you are ready to accept Him into your life. Say this prayer if you would like to invite Jesus to live in your heart:

Father God, I love you and believe in you. I need you Lord and I am sorry for my sins and the way that I live. Lord, I want you in my life. I receive Jesus as my savior and Lord. I believe that Jesus died for me and rose from the dead. Lord take me as I am and make me the way you want me to be. God, thank you for saving me and being with me on my journey. I am looking forward to my journey with you Lord. I know you will equip me for my journey and I am glad I have you by my side as I walk this walk of Life. Thank you Lord, I love you. Amen

My true belief is that the best way to preach is by our actions and not our words. However, we need some daily inspiration to keep us on our path. We as Christians have a responsibility not to judge others by our words but to show the love of Christ by loving them where they are at on their personal journey in life...and if they never turn their life over to Christ, continue to love them for who they are - after all God does.
