Satan only has authority when we give it to him

John 10:10 (AMP) 10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].

When we are not aware of the devil’s ploys, it is easier to be deceived by him. Jesus came to interrupt Satan’s plan for our lives. We have authority over the devil. The devil has power but we have power and authority. Satan only has authority when we give it to him.

Luke 10:19 (AMP) 19 Listen carefully: I have given you authority [that you now possess] to tread on [a]serpents and scorpions, and [the ability to exercise authority] over all the power of the enemy (Satan); and nothing will [in any way] harm you.

The devil attacks us by coming into our thoughts and putting thoughts into our mind; we have to change our way of thinking according to the word of God.

Ephesians 1:17-19 (AMP) 17 [I always pray] that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation [that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight] into the true knowledge of Him [for we know the Father through the Son]. 18 And [I pray] that the eyes of your heart [the very center and core of your being] may be enlightened [flooded with light by the Holy Spirit], so that you will know and cherish the [a]hope [the divine guarantee, the confident expectation] to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the [b]saints (God’s people), 19 and [so that you will begin to know] what the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His [active, spiritual] power is in us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of His mighty strength

We can spend a lifetime loving God and still not be aware of what the Word of God says. That is why it is important for us to study the word of God for ourselves and not just depend on someone else to feed and teach us. It is up to us to discern what we hear about the Word of God. We each are responsible for getting to know God and to know Him personally. We are to know God, know who we are in God and not give the devil power to walk all over us.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (AMP) The weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood]. Our weapons are divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying sophisticated arguments and every exalted and proud thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of Christ,

Do you know the Word of God well enough to recognize the lies of Satan and you are quick to confront the attack as soon as you recognize it? We cannot fight the devil’s attacks and defeat him with a physical weapon. We have to know enough of the Word of God to recognize every lie of Satan and tear down that stronghold with the Word of God. When we are poisoned by the devil, the Word of God has healing power or us.

If you would like to accept Jesus as your savior, and you are not quite sure how, it is as simple as saying a prayer to God letting Him know you are ready to accept Him into your life. Say this prayer if you would like to invite Jesus to live in your heart:

Father God, I love you and believe in you. I need you Lord and I am sorry for my sins and the way that I live. Lord, I want you in my life. I receive Jesus as my savior and Lord. I believe that Jesus died for me and rose from the dead. Lord take me as I am and make me the way you want me to be. God, thank you for saving me and being with me on my journey. I am looking forward to my journey with you Lord. I know you will equip me for my journey and I am glad I have you by my side as I walk this walk of Life. Thank you Lord, I love you. Amen

My true belief is that the best way to preach is by our actions and not our words. However, we need some daily inspiration to keep us on our path. We as Christians have a responsibility not to judge others by our words but to show the love of Christ by loving them where they are at on their personal journey in life...and if they never turn their life over to Christ, continue to love them for who they are - after all God does.
