Positions of Spiritual Battle

Joshua 1:8 (AMPC) This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good [a]success.

Confessing the word of God over your life can change your life drastically. We live the word after we read it, meditate on it, and study it. Understanding and applying the Word of God over our lives will bring us success in life. Things and circumstances will fight us all in this journey we call life. We may as well learn how to fight those negative circumstances back – with the Word of God.

There are positions of battle that we can take when we are going through something. The positions we take are on our knees, confront the situation head on, or walk away from the situation.   It takes relationship and direction from God to know what position to take when we are facing a negative situation. We can learn to live by the discerning of the Holy Spirit but we need to stop controlling everything long enough so we can stop and pray, and then listen to the direction God is leading us to follow.

James 4:7 (KJV) Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

On your knees – Go to God first, not last. Start every battle on your knees. Listen more to the Word of God instead of the words from people. People will confuse us if their advice for our situation does not line up with what we think God is telling us to do. They also at times, can get angry when we don’t take their advice in given situations. When you have peace about making difficult decisions, then you know that is what God is leading you to do. Unfortunately, some things we have to do in life are not going to be easy. Life is tough which is why we need to approach our battle in the position of submission – to God.

Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV) Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Confront – Know what you need to confront, and confront it. God may lead us to confront a difficult situation – that is not always easy to do and it takes a lot of courage. We need to make sure the way we are confronting the situation is in alignment to God’s word and God’s will for the situation.

1 Peter 5:6-7 (AMPC)Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you,Casting the [a]whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, [b]once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you [c]watchfully.

Walk Away – Know when to walk away in your shoes of peace – using the word of God as your defense – God is your vindicator. We are called to peace. We need to know when we should walk away. Sometimes we are so busy trying to fight the situation ourselves and it might be that God wants us to handle our battle a little differently than we are. It takes a whole lot of faith to cast our care to God and do nothing when we are facing crisis but there are times when that is exactly what we need to do.

Ephesians 6:13-18 (NLT) 13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. 15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.[a] 16 In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.[b] 17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.[c]

If you would like to accept Jesus as your savior, and you are not quite sure how, it is as simple as saying a prayer to God letting Him know you are ready to accept Him into your life. Say this prayer if you would like to invite Jesus to live in your heart:

Father God, I love you and believe in you. I need you Lord and I am sorry for my sins and the way that I live. Lord, I want you in my life. I receive Jesus as my savior and Lord. I believe that Jesus died for me and rose from the dead. Lord take me as I am and make me the way you want me to be. God, thank you for saving me and being with me on my journey. I am looking forward to my journey with you Lord. I know you will equip me for my journey and I am glad I have you by my side as I walk this walk of Life. Thank you Lord, I love you. Amen

My true belief is that the best way to preach is by our actions and not our words. However, we need some daily inspiration to keep us on our path. We as Christians have a responsibility not to judge others by our words but to show the love of Christ by loving them where they are at on their personal journey in life...and if they never turn their life over to Christ, continue to love them for who they are - after all God does.
