Don’t be so worried about reaching the destination that you don’t enjoy the journey

Nehemiah 8:10 (AMP) 10 Then [Ezra] told them, Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet drink, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. And be not grieved and depressed, for the joy of the Lord is your strength and stronghold.

We can change life dramatically by just taking time to celebrate life. We tend to forget the great things God does for us in our life. We focus so much on what is going wrong that we do not take the time to rejoice over what is going right. A thankful attitude. Having a thankful attitude will give us joy and strength. We can enjoy other people – even those we don’t agree with all the time.

The secret to enjoy life is…. Get over yourself and quit taking life and people so seriously. The things we get upset over are just a moment in time and usually do not mean much in the big picture of life. It’s like a grain of sand on the seashore. A tiny grain of sand. We act as if those grains of sand are boulders. Release the burden you have on yourself and give it to God – Start to view things in the reality of what they are.

God can do some really great things and sometimes we are so focused on what is going wrong in our lives that we tend to overlook what is going right in our lives. We magnify the bad and minimize the good. Why do we do that? Likely we have developed a habit of focusing on the negative things. It could be we were brought up that way and we have never changed the way we look at bad things. It is time to change our attitude and behavior and start to celebrate the great things we have in our lives.

You can learn to enjoy your journey. Don’t be so worried about reaching the destination that you don’t enjoy the journey. Once you reach your destination you will have another destination to reach. If we choose not to enjoy the destination we may never enjoy life. We can choose to celebrate our victories – large and small.

God is a great God and he does many great things for us and others. God can change our negative attitude into a positive one, all we have to do is ask Him to help us in that area and become a little more aware of how we are responding to situations in life. The bottom line is having a good attitude is a choice, not the way we were born, or our circumstances, it is a choice.

Nehemiah 8:10 (AMP) 10 Then Ezra said to them, “Go [your way], eat the rich festival food, drink the sweet drink, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be worried, for the joy of the Lord is your strength and your stronghold.”

If you would like to accept Jesus as your savior, and you are not quite sure how, it is as simple as saying a prayer to God letting Him know you are ready to accept Him into your life. Say this prayer if you would like to invite Jesus to live in your heart:

Father God, I love you and believe in you. I need you Lord and I am sorry for my sins and the way that I live. Lord, I want you in my life. I receive Jesus as my savior and Lord. I believe that Jesus died for me and rose from the dead. Lord take me as I am and make me the way you want me to be. God, thank you for saving me and being with me on my journey. I am looking forward to my journey with you Lord. I know you will equip me for my journey and I am glad I have you by my side as I walk this walk of Life. Thank you Lord, I love you. Amen

My true belief is that the best way to preach is by our actions and not our words. However, we need some daily inspiration to keep us on our path. We as Christians have a responsibility not to judge others by our words but to show the love of Christ by loving them where they are at on their personal journey in life...and if they never turn their life over to Christ, continue to love them for who they are - after all God does.
