Proverbs 18:21 (AMP) 21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life].
Words are full of power. They can build up or tear down. People get divorced and lose jobs over words. People have a poor self-image for words spoken to them. It is time for us to be accountable for the words that come out of our mouths. We talk about our troubles a lot but we don’t seem to talk about what God has done. We talk about our issue at hand rather than what God can do in the middle of our issue. When we think about it, God has gotten us through some pretty rotten stuff in life. We can help ourselves with our words rather than hurt ourselves.
James 1:2-5 (AMP) 2 Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations. 3 Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience. 4 But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing. 5 If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of [b]the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him.
We can be really good in the area of our words until a trial comes. There is a treasure in our trial – that is why we are to consider it joyful when we are in the midst of a trial. When we face trouble we need to learn to ask God to ask us to find the treasure in our trial rather than talk to everyone about what is going wrong in our lives. Our words can carry faith to God to release healing in our situation or we can use our words to speak negatively to make our situation worse.
If you would like to accept Jesus as your savior, and you are not quite sure how, it is as simple as saying a prayer to God letting Him know you are ready to accept Him into your life. Say this prayer if you would like to invite Jesus to live in your heart:
Father God, I love you and believe in you. I need you Lord and I am sorry for my sins and the way that I live. Lord, I want you in my life. I receive Jesus as my savior and Lord. I believe that Jesus died for me and rose from the dead. Lord take me as I am and make me the way you want me to be. God, thank you for saving me and being with me on my journey. I am looking forward to my journey with you Lord. I know you will equip me for my journey and I am glad I have you by my side as I walk this walk of Life. Thank you Lord, I love you. Amen
