Psalm 1:1-3 (AMP)1 Blessed (happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather. 2 But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night. 3 And he shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity].
Sometimes it is not easy to do the right thing. God will give us the strength to do the right thing when we are weak. We have to know the Word in order to do the right thing. We give up a lot of our own authority by not being willing to do the right things when we are prompted to do them. Many of us are saved, but we are not serious about our relationship with God. We can be saved and still live a miserable life. God has a great life for us but it is up to us to do our part in order to experience that life.
Sometimes we need to change the people who we spend time with in order to change our lives. Making a serious commitment may mean you will lose some of your friends because they do not support you in your quest to deepen your relationship with God. Or, they may just not understand what God is telling you to do. Just be prepared to walk with God as your leader and not be led by what people will think about you. What we need we cannot get from people, we have to get it from God.
James 1:2-3 (AMP) 2 Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations. 3 Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience.
If you would like to accept Jesus as your savior, and you are not quite sure how, it is as simple as saying a prayer to God letting Him know you are ready to accept Him into your life. Say this prayer if you would like to invite Jesus to live in your heart:
Father God, I love you and believe in you. I need you Lord and I am sorry for my sins and the way that I live. Lord, I want you in my life. I receive Jesus as my savior and Lord. I believe that Jesus died for me and rose from the dead. Lord take me as I am and make me the way you want me to be. God, thank you for saving me and being with me on my journey. I am looking forward to my journey with you Lord. I know you will equip me for my journey and I am glad I have you by my side as I walk this walk of Life. Thank you Lord, I love you. Amen
