Matthew 14:27-33 (AMP) 27 But instantly He spoke to them, saying, Take courage! I Am! Stop being afraid! 28 And Peter answered Him, Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water. 29 He said, Come! So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water, and he came toward Jesus. 30 But when he perceived and felt the strong wind, he was frightened, and as he began to sink, he cried out, Lord, save me [from death]! 31 Instantly Jesus reached out His hand and caught and held him, saying to him, O you of little faith, why did you doubt? 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. 33 And those in the boat knelt and worshiped Him, saying, Truly You are the Son of God!
One fear we have is doubt. We may not even realize that doubt can be a type of fear. It’s not that we doubt God but many times we doubt ourselves. We believe God can do things but we don’t believe that He will do things for us. It’s as if we think He doesn’t hear our prayers like He does the prayers of others.
Peter was the only one who was bold enough to walk out on water. When Peter thought of his own abilities, he got afraid. Then Jesus reached out His hand and saved Peter. I’d rather try to walk on water than sit safe in the boat my entire life.
God is looking for courageous and bold people. The boldness that comes from knowing we can do all things in Christ – not boldness in ourselves. We can have Holy confidence knowing we can do whatever we need to do through Christ. We have to get rid of the fear of making mistakes before we can step out boldly.
Most of us have thing we would like to step out and do and follow our heart but we are just too afraid to do it. We will never know what all God has for us if we do not follow His leading and plan for us. God had a great and fantastic life planned for us.
If you would like to accept Jesus as your savior, and you are not quite sure how, it is as simple as saying a prayer to God letting Him know you are ready to accept Him into your life. Say this prayer if you would like to invite Jesus to live in your heart:
Father God, I love you and believe in you. I need you Lord and I am sorry for my sins and the way that I live. Lord, I want you in my life. I receive Jesus as my savior and Lord. I believe that Jesus died for me and rose from the dead. Lord take me as I am and make me the way you want me to be. God, thank you for saving me and being with me on my journey. I am looking forward to my journey with you Lord. I know you will equip me for my journey and I am glad I have you by my side as I walk this walk of Life. Thank you Lord, I love you. Amen
