Love is not something God does because of our behavior – it is who he is

Isaiah 38:17 (AMP)17 Behold, it was for my peace that I had intense bitterness; but You have loved back my life from the pit of corruption and nothingness, for You have cast all my sins behind Your back.

Love is the answer to finding our self-worth. We all want to be valuable and know that we mean something to someone. Sadly, if we have a bad start in life we spend our whole life searching for self-worth and we look in all the wrong places such as what people think of us, how we look, the work we do, etc. What we need to understand is our worth and value is not in what others think, or things around us, or our performance but based on what is on the inside of us.

When we get our worth and value in what people think of us it can derail our destiny. When we do what God wants us to do we may actually become unpopular. It is not always easy to do what God asks us to do but as we start moving ahead in our destiny we will see glory.

Galatians 1:10 (AMP)10 Now am I trying to win the favor of men, or of God? Do I seek to please men? If I were still seeking popularity with men, I should not be a bond servant of Christ (the Messiah).

It is okay to be motivated by accomplishment but we should not get our identity and self-worth based off of the work we do – that includes work in the church ministry. We cannot earn God’s love. God just loves us. God loves us no matter what we do, mistakes and all. God loves us as much on our worst day as he does our best day. Love is not something God does because of our behavior – it is who he is. The love of God rescues us from thinking we need to earn our worth and value. God loves us just the way we are. God did not get stuck with us, he chose us and specifically planned us for His will.

Ephesians 1:4-5 (AMP) Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own] in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love. For He foreordained us (destined us, planned in love for us) to be adopted (revealed) as His own children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the purpose of His will [[a]because it pleased Him and was His kind intent]—

If you would like to accept Jesus as your savior, and you are not quite sure how, it is as simple as saying a prayer to God letting Him know you are ready to accept Him into your life. Say this prayer if you would like to invite Jesus to live in your heart:

Father God, I love you and believe in you. I need you Lord and I am sorry for my sins and the way that I live. Lord, I want you in my life. I receive Jesus as my savior and Lord. I believe that Jesus died for me and rose from the dead. Lord take me as I am and make me the way you want me to be. God, thank you for saving me and being with me on my journey. I am looking forward to my journey with you Lord. I know you will equip me for my journey and I am glad I have you by my side as I walk this walk of Life. Thank you Lord, I love you. Amen

My true belief is that the best way to preach is by our actions and not our words. However, we need some daily inspiration to keep us on our path. We as Christians have a responsibility not to judge others by our words but to show the love of Christ by loving them where they are at on their personal journey in life...and if they never turn their life over to Christ, continue to love them for who they are - after all God does.
