1 Corinthians 10:33 (AMP) 33 Just as I myself strive to please [to accommodate myself to the opinions, desires, and interests of others, adapting myself to] all men in everything I do, not aiming at or considering my own profit and advantage, but that of the many in order that they may be saved.
We have to work hard to not be self-centered. We seem to think everyone should agree with our opinion. We could increase our joy immensely just by not sharing our opinion with people until they ask us for it. We really do not know what someone else is going through so we shouldn’t have an opinion about it. We can hurt a lot of individuals without even knowing it when we feel free to share our opinion with others all of the time. If it is a God word, then by all means share the Word, however, if it is a self-word, be careful so you do not hurt someone.
We seem to think just because something works for us, it might work for others. God’s plan for our life may not be the same plan He has for someone else. It’s decent to help someone who might be going through what you went through, but be a supporter not a judge. Just because that person is going through something we did we must remember it may have been a journey we had to take to get where we are today. Meet people where they are at on the way to where they are going. Don’t expect them to reach the finish line without running the race.
Just because we have an opinion it doesn’t mean we have to share it. Whether it looks like somebody is happy or sad or if it looks like their life is good or bad, just love them and don’t share your opinion unless they ask for it. When you freely share your opinion, you may be chasing people out of your life who need you.
Once we learn to keep our opinion to ourselves we will notice much more peace in our lives.
Proverbs 18:2 (AMP) 2 A [self-confident] fool has no delight in understanding but only in revealing his personal opinions and himself.
