Galatians 5:16 (AMP)
16 But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God).
A habit is something we do without thinking about it and is formed through repetition. Habits we do without even realizing what we are doing sometimes. Much of what we do is out of habit. We all have good habits and bad habits. If we can make habits then we can break habits – we just have to do the thing to break the bad habit over and over until the good habit replaces the bad habit. When choosing a time to break a bad habit – there is not time like the present. We all want good habits but we are not all willing to work toward replacing bad habits with good habits.
We have the power to replace bad habits with good habits. We overcome evil with good. The good habit has the power to drive the bad habit out of our life. We can all be guided by the Holy Spirit to break bad habits. The Holy Spirit is that voice deep down telling us not to do something we should not be doing. We can form a habit of walking in the Spirit.
The more we focus on what is wrong the bigger it becomes in our lives. The more we focus on what is right the better our life is. We need to know what habits are bad but not make that the center of our lives. We just need discipline to overcome bad habits. We all have discipline inside of us we just have to learn how to use it. We have to see ourselves successful before we become successful. You are a person with God inside of you – you can do whatever it is you set yourself to do.
