Matthew 12:33 (AMP)33 Either make the tree sound (healthy and good), and its fruit sound (healthy and good), or make the tree rotten (diseased and bad), and its fruit rotten (diseased and bad); for the tree is known and recognized and judged by its fruit.
There is a difference between gifts and fruit of the spirit. Gifts are given but the fruit of the spirit are developed in us. As we use our fruit during our trials, our character is developed and we become more spiritually mature. We have opportunities every day to exercise our fruit of the spirit.
God gives us abilities to do things. There are some things we are great at, those are gifts from God. We need to start to think about admiring the gift someone has rather than the person, or we admire our own gift rather than the God who gave those gifts to us.
The abilities God gives us distinguishes us from other people. God gives us the gift He wants us to have not always the gift we wish we had. None of us are alike in the gifts we have that is because God wants us to need one another. Just because our gifts are different it does not mean that one gift is better than another gift.
In heaven we are not applauded by our gifts but by our fruit. In the world we seem to be admired by our gifts and talents. Gifts are easy because they are given. Fruit is not so easy because it requires practice in life’s situations so we can build our character.
