Exodus 18:14-18 (AMP) 14 When Moses’ father-in-law saw all that he was doing for the people, he said, What is this that you do for the people? Why do you sit alone, and all the people stand around you from morning till evening? 15 Moses said to his father-in-law, Because the people come to me to inquire of God. 16 When they have a dispute they come to me, and I judge between a man and his neighbor, and I make them know the statutes of God and His laws. 17 Moses’ father-in-law said to him, The thing that you are doing is not good. 18 You will surely wear out both yourself and this people with you, for the thing is too heavy for you; you are not able to perform it all by yourself.
God surrounds us with the people we need to help us do the things we need to do. We may have to work through differences and issues with other people when asking for their assistance. Sometimes we think we should just do things ourselves rather than let others do them because they don’t do things like we do. By nature we do not always like to put up with other people’s weaknesses.
Sometimes we get involved in things because we think that other people cannot do things as well as us. Trying to do everything yourself can steal your peace and causes you not to get any rest. Just because you can do things well it does not mean you are supposed to be doing that thing. If you find you are tired all of the time, then ask yourself if there are things you can cut out in your life.
When you start asking others for help and let others take over some of the tasks you have been doing, they will not be doing it like you did, but you don’t have to like how they do it, as long as the tasks get done. You may not like the way others do things, but you have a choice – you can let people do things differently than you do or you can try to do everything yourself and remain stressed out all of the time.
