2 Corinthians 5:17 (AMP)
17 Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!
What does it mean to be born again? What does it mean to be saved? There are people who are born again and have no idea really what they have. There are folks that maybe are born-again but have slid back into their old ways. If we do not have a right relationship with God, it is time to change that.
Jesus did not die so we could just have a religion and a bunch of rules we need to follow to get to God. Being born again is having a relationship with God. When we enter into relationship with God we can give God everything we have (which is usually not good things such as misery, broken hearts, our sin, etc). and God gives us everything He has. He does this because He loves us. God likes it when we admit our shortcomings to Him and ask Him for help and believe through faith that He can change us to be the best we can be.
We all have sinned and come short in the Glory of God. But even if we are a super wicked sinner, God’s forgiveness and love is still for us. When we are born again, we admit we are a sinner, ask God to come into our heart, and be willing to turn away from our sin. Just because we are willing doesn’t mean that it will be easy and we will get it right every day, but God will help us.
When we invite God into our heart, we become the home of God. When we receive Christ we never have to solve our problems on our own again because God promises that He will never leave us or forsake us.
Being a Christian is a wonderful journey. It’s actually more difficult being a sinner than a Christian. Without God we have no hope as a sinner. Our worst day with God is better than our best day without Him.
Even though we are born again it does not mean we will no longer have problems. We still have life in front of us, it’s just we have hope and someone to guide us through our problems. When we are born again what is in us(Jesus) becomes bigger than what is on the outside (our problems).
2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV)
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
