You can be kind on purpose

1 Thessalonians 5:8 (AMP)
8 But we belong to the day; therefore, let us be sober and put on the breastplate (corslet) of faith and love and for a helmet the hope of salvation.

We have to put things on spiritually.  How do we do that?  We do that by preparing ourselves spiritually for what is coming and what we are going to do.  We have to put on love – choose to be nice to others each day.  Believe it or not it may not come easy for a lot of people to be loving to others, especially the unlovely.  So we have to actively plan on loving others and being kind each day.  We do not have wait to feel  like being kind, we can be kind on purpose if we want to and if we think it is the right thing to do.  It develops character in our lives when we do things and we don’t feel like it but we know it is the right thing to do.

Then after we decide to fight our feelings and be kind when we do not feel like it, we should not complain about it.  It seems like when we are tired, we have to work extra hard to keep our attitude and outlook right.  The more we get our minds off of ourselves the happier we may be.

Have you ever made a plan to actually be kind to someone?  The way to put on love is to do it ahead of time.  Mentally prepare yourself for the day to be kind to others and love them no matter what.

My true belief is that the best way to preach is by our actions and not our words. However, we need some daily inspiration to keep us on our path. We as Christians have a responsibility not to judge others by our words but to show the love of Christ by loving them where they are at on their personal journey in life...and if they never turn their life over to Christ, continue to love them for who they are - after all God does.
