Look at how far you have come rather than how far you have to go

Matthew 5:48 (AMP)
48 You, therefore, must be perfect [growing into complete maturity of godliness in mind and character, having reached the proper height of virtue and integrity], as your heavenly Father is perfect.

The bible tells us to be perfect but what does that mean?  Being perfect is growing in maturity according to the above scripture – not doing everything right.  We will all make mistakes but we should not have a sloppy attitude about making mistakes.  We need to put forth effort to cooperate with the Holy Spirit to grow into spiritual maturity.  We are partners with God.

If you are not where you think you should be – you should be happy anyways because likely you are not where you were a year ago.  Look back to a year ago and recognize your growth.  The Devil wants us to think we do things wrong all the time so we condemn ourselves when we make mistakes and misbehave – but we have to look at how far we have grown instead of putting our mistakes under a magnifying glass.

My true belief is that the best way to preach is by our actions and not our words. However, we need some daily inspiration to keep us on our path. We as Christians have a responsibility not to judge others by our words but to show the love of Christ by loving them where they are at on their personal journey in life...and if they never turn their life over to Christ, continue to love them for who they are - after all God does.
