Mercy is not earned, it is a gift

Ephesians 3:16-18 (AMP)
16 May He grant you out of the rich treasury of His glory to be strengthened
and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the [Holy] Spirit [Himself indwelling your innermost being and personality].
17 May Christ through your faith [actually] dwell (settle down, abide, make His permanent home) in your hearts! May you be rooted deep in love
and founded securely on love,
18 That you may have the power
and be strong to apprehend and grasp with all the saints [God’s devoted people, the experience of that love] what is the breadth and length and height and depth [of it];

It’s easy to be mean, bitter, angry, and hard to others but it can be difficult to be merciful to others. Mercy cannot be earned or deserved. Mercy is a gift. It takes Godly character to be a person of mercy. God wants us to be merciful to others. We do not have to feel merciful to be merciful. We can choose to help someone who does not deserve it or who has treated us poorly. When we show people mercy who do not deserve it is when we are behaving like God.

Let’s decide to have spirit-filled personalities and behaviors – not only at church, but also at home, at work, in traffic, in a long line at the store, and everywhere we go!

My true belief is that the best way to preach is by our actions and not our words. However, we need some daily inspiration to keep us on our path. We as Christians have a responsibility not to judge others by our words but to show the love of Christ by loving them where they are at on their personal journey in life...and if they never turn their life over to Christ, continue to love them for who they are - after all God does.
