John 14:27 (AMP)
27 Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]
Are you at peace with God? One way to be at peace with God is to repent for your sins. Before you confess your sins, you may feel miserable but after you confess you are released from guilt and shame. We are not hiding things from God.
We cannot be mad at God because things have not worked out in our lives the way we want them to. God is the only one who can help us. Life may not be fair all the time but God is just. Are you happy only when things are groovy in your life? Maturity is loving life and being happy no matter what your circumstances are. Do you have peace with your life?
We can also obtain peace by stop trying to figure everything out in our lives. We need to be comfortable just not knowing sometimes. We not only have to have peace with God, we need to have peace with ourselves. If you want to have peace, you have to first be at peace with God, then at peace with yourself. We need to quit focusing on all of the things we feel like we’ve failed at. If we focus on our failures all of the time we will never be at peace with ourselves. God loves us regardless of our failures.
We cannot be peaceful with others if we are not peaceful with ourselves. How can we give away something we don’t have? What a great witness it is to be peaceful in circumstances that are not peaceful.
